Thanks, and enjoy a low-res 2008.
Inspiring interview with Ethan Nichtern, Founder and Director of The Interdependence Project (The ID Project) in New York City and author of the new book "One City: A Declaration of Interdependence". This is a fascinating and personal discussion of Nichtern's key idea of interdependence as well as an enlightening conversation about Eastern ideas in general, such as Buddhism and meditation. Nichtern talks about how there is a strong current desire worldwide for a new social consciousness that properly balances inner peace and illumination with informed social engagement and responsibility. ..
Anyway -- just wanted to give you a shot from Ethan Nichtern's appearance at New York's Rubin Museum of Art. He was there to read from and discuss his new book, One City: A Declaration of Interdependence.
A good-sized group of people made it to the event, which was split between a sort of informal reception in the museum's K2 Lounge, then the reading up on the 6th floor (he read the book's incredible prologue, which you can also read for yourself here), and then back to the Lounge for booksignings and general cooling out. There were even particularly great-lookin' One City shirts for sale (proceeds go to the Interdependence Project), which Ethan founded.
Keep your eye on this guy. He writes and reads and teaches like the gentlest whirlwind you've ever seen.
AND: if you've never been to the Rubin Museum, you've GOT to go. Amazing Buddhist/Himalayan art and the people are cool, too.
Can't believe I hadn't been there before. Well, it won't be the last time, I hope!
