All.we've just launched the Burma is important Project. Hope you'll check it out, and participate.
Also about Burma, kind of -- check this out:
It would seem that The Economist would have some of the best coverage going. (And if they don't, I'm not sure whose is better.) To the right is the cover of their current issue.
Well done, Economist.
...On the other hand, on a recent visit to their website, I was met with what has got to be one of the stupidest graphic judgment-calls that I've seen in a long time.
You're almost sure to wince.
This little marketing request appeared over a reproduction of the cover on the homepage.
Come on.
On The Economist's webpage???
I haven't seen it again.
I really hope it was a hack.
Yep. Or at least, that's what Radar magazine says. They "inducted" His Holiness into their "Hype Report," (also known as the "Overrated 100"), a "scientific survey of the world's most overrated people, places, & things."
Yaknow, I generally love Radar -- there's a sort of SPY magazine flair to it that is generally missing from the newsstands. I even subscribe.
But really, choosing the Dalai Lama as the 25th most overrated person, place, or thing seems to be little more than a stunt.
...I know, I know: that's the point. Right.
But still. It seems just... dumb. Which SPY (may it rest in peace), for all its snarkiness, never was.
See more from The Hype Report here.
(And while we're talking about SPY, check out the Horse's homage from last year.)
It seems that a dog-centric interview with spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle appears in the new issue of Modern Dog (which, frankly, the Horse has yet to see at an actual newsstand).
The magazine bills the piece thusly:
In the Fall 2007 issue of Modern Dog magazine, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Connie Wilson sits down with Eckhart Tolle (and his dog) to talk about his teachings and how the companionship of a dog can help us in our shift into a deeper state of consciousness.
As Cesar Millan says, dogs "live in the Now." Maybe that's where Tolle learned the "Power" of it?
We were browsing a local music store and happened upon Issue Eight of Peel magazine. Good thing we did: it features an interview with none other than Dolla, one of the Horse's favorite street artists.
There are two versions of the magazine. The basic one comes with a bunch of stickers from various artists bound in and is certainly cool. Much cooler, though, is the polybagged "Limited Edition," which includes about 20 additional stickers, including the "Dolla Lama" one shown here.
Very cool. Congrats to Dolla.
Read the Horse's interview with him here.
